چکیده

In this paper the application of chaotic signals in continuous wave (CW) ranging systems is addressed. Diierent chaos generators that can be applied in this application are presented and analysed with respect to their signal properties. In the case of a CW ranging system the important requirement is an unambigu-ous range estimation. If classical correlation processing is applied in the CW ranging system, the capability of the ranging signal for unambiguous range estimation is analysed by means of the Woodward Ambiguity Function (WAF). A discrete time chaotic ranging system is presented and it performance with respect to multi user operation (CDMA) is analysed. A CW ranging system emits a ranging signal x t into a medium where targets at radial range from the ranging system r i , which are possibly moving with radial velocity v i relative to the ranging system, are present.
